Welcome to the Second Chance Reentry Resource Website! Whether you are a corrections professional, returning offender, non-profit service provider, or the family member of someone who is incarcerated, this website was created for YOU! With funding from the Missouri Department of Corrections Missouri Reentry Process, this site was developed with data from Heart of America United Way and with the help of the Kansas City Metropolitan Reentry Coalition.
Second Chance is a program of the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission, a sixty-one year old 501c-3 organization with a rich history of leadership in the area of public safety. Second Chance was born in 2008 to further that mission, with the desire to increase success and decrease recidivism for the 15,000 metropolitan area Kansas Citians who are on probation and parole supervision at this time. Before directly serving individuals, the Second Chance Program conducted a year of research with UMKC, funded by Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City. This research revealed a need to identify and make available to full spectrum of resources for people returning from incarceration to ensure greater access to programs and services.
